August 1 - 31, 2024
From Yard Dog Fine Art:
“In August we’ll be featuring paintings by 2 new-to-Yard Dog artsits:
Massachusetts artist Rachel Paxton creates western-themed, mid-century modern-inspired neon sign paintings. These paintings of vintage neon signs are a pastiche of several different historic signs. Some still survive and some don’t exist anymore or are partially dilapidated and abandoned. Rachel redesigns and hyper-idealizes the signs to become new docu-fiction signs, which stand in for our collective, romanticized and often incomplete memories.
Will Beger is a fifth generation Arizonan with a unique approach to Southwestern art. His contemporary-minimalist paintings are clean, pleasing and full of juxtaposition. Influenced by his youth and inspired by nature, he effortlessly captures a vibrant, bohemian aesthetic that is unapologetically true to his roots. His modern Southwest artworks feature a mix of mid-century and landscape elements with an emphasis on desert minimal design. He also brings his subjects into extreme focus – portraying fruits, vegetables, plants and animals at a cellular level. Bright color and stark contrast are standout features of his work.”
