From Arts Fort Worth:
“I would like to thank the Fort Worth Arts Council and Arts Fort Worth for their help in making this show possible. I
want to thank Leslie Lanzotti and William Greiner for showing their work about this historic subject. This exhibition
gives us a chance to catch up on what we now know about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy sixty
years later.
Carl Sagan, “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to
reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We are no longer interested in finding the truth. The bamboozle has
captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken.”
The New York Times, Oct. 3, 1963; Arthur Krock article, In The Nation, contained the following remarks, “The CIA’s
growth is likened to a malignancy that the White House was not sure it could control any longer. If the United
States ever experiences an attempt at a coup, it would come from the CIA…the agency represents tremendous
power and total unaccountability to anyone.”
Let’s begin by telling you a story of a 13 year old boy who became obsessed with a 1950’s TV show about an
ordinary American working undercover for the FBI by posing as a communist. The TV show was called “I Led 3
Lives” and this young man was Lee Harvey Oswald. While other boys his age dreamed about becoming a cowboy,
a policeman or a fireman, Oswald dreamed about being a double agent, working off the grid… undercover. This
dream would become his life when he joined the Marines and became a Counterintelligence Agent for the CIA and
the Pentagon. Oswald was living out his dream. His dream would become America’s nightmare on November 22,
- Two days later Oswald would be killed by Jack Ruby.
What followed was the Warren Commission, who were bamboozled by the FBI and the CIA. After the Watergate
scandal the 1975 Church Committee reviewed the CIA and FBI’s handling of the JFK assassination and
discovered that Jack Ruby was an FBI informant. Committee member Sen. Richard Schweicker remarked about
Oswald that,“everywhere you looked with him there are fingerprints of intelligence”. The 1976 House Select
Committee on the Assassination, the HSCA, was set up after the outcry of seeing the Zapruder film aired by
Robert Groden on Geraldo Rivera’s late night show for the first time. The HSCA discovered a motorcycle police
recording that proved that a shot was fired from the grassy knoll. Oliver Stone’s 1991 blockbuster movie “JFK”, led
to the creation of the Assassination Records Review Board. The ARRB investigations discovered that key medical
evidence had been tampered with. Their review of the records also show that JFK had trouble controlling the CIA
and the Pentagon. A history of concern began during the Truman and Eisenhower administrations about the over
reaching power of the CIA and Pentagon. JFK began the process of taking on this axis of power when he fired
Allen Dulles, the head of the CIA. The shock wave from that move led to the assassination of JFK… the rest is a
distorted history. Members of the HSCA and ARRB discovered that Oswald’s links to the intelligence community
were overtly hiding in plain sight. He was based at Atsugi, Japan Naval Air Station, a forward CIA base for U2
flights over China and Russia. Oswald’s ability to speak Russian and his strange journey to the Soviet Union was
like a red flag that he was working undercover for the CIA. Why this was ignored by the media is beyond
explanation. Former CIA accountant James Wilcott testified in a deposition to the HSCA that he was aware that
Oswald was employed and trained by the CIA, undercover of the Office of Naval Intelligence, for Soviet
assignments. Upon returning to New Orleans and Dallas, Oswald began moonlighting as an FBI informant. He
kept working for the CIA and the FBI right up to the day he was silenced by Jack Ruby. The CIA is still defying a
congressional order to turn over all of the remaining documents to the National Archives by 2017. Their recent
release falls short of the mark but it gives us enough to fill in the gaps; what becomes clear is that Lee Harvey
Oswald had links to the intelligence community and their fingerprints are all over the Kennedy assassination.
