Xandr Arquin: Through the Static

“Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present “Through the Static”, a new series of photographic work by Xandr Arquin. The solo exhibition will open Thursday, August 31st and Friday, September 1st, 2023, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on September 21st, 2023.

Xandr Arquin is a multidisciplinary photographer who lives and works in San Antonio, TX. He is a current MFA at UTSA who explores physical and societal landscapes of entertainment. Engaging with our consumerist culture, Xandr dives deep into the world of static, raw information and the reality of its commodification. Driven by his passion for counterculture, Xandr sees the world through the static of film photography and retro advertisements of the 20th century. From photographic remixes of art history to surreal street art, Xandr’s artworks challenge our perception of liminal spaces, sparking conversations around commodity, entertainment, and aesthetics. Xandr’s practice brings to our forefront the infinite possibilities of the intersection between photography, digital art, and entertainment.”
