From Ivester Contemporary:
“Ivester Contemporary is proud to present, The Four Pillars, a solo exhibition of photographs by Austin based photographer Eli Durst. This exhibition is Durst’s second with the gallery and second exhibition of photographs derived from his latest photo book, which is also titled The Four Pillars.
Durst’s book, The Four Pillars, explores a diverse range of activities, including church classes, team building exercises, and family photoshoots. Although seemingly unrelated, these photographs delve into our shared aspirations to find meaning and purpose. The ten images selected for this exhibition have not been displayed in a gallery setting in the past and offer a new impression of Durst’s body of work.
Eli Durst is an Austin based artist whose work explores the social forces and group dynamics that shape the suburban American experience. Durst’s photographs have been exhibited internationally and have been featured in Aperture, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Vogue, and The Atlantic among others. His first monograph, The Community (Morel, 2020), received Special Mention for the Author’s Book Award at Les Rencontres d’Arles in 2020. The Four Pillars (Loose Joints Publishing, 2022) received wide ranging acclaim from multiple sources including i-D, British Journal of Photography, Creative Review, and Nowhere Diary among others.”
