Drinking the Sun

From the Center for Contemporary Arts:

“The artist members from the Center for Contemporary Arts will be exhibiting their newest works in the Drinking the Sun group exhibit, opening May 11 in Breed Gallery, with a group exhibit reception scheduled for Friday, May 19th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in Abilene.

The exhibition’s theme is based on reflection, relics, and memories, with the art showcasing memories or nostalgia. Art often evokes or presents glimpses into memory, both personal and universal. Sometimes nostalgic and romantic about personal history, and other times a sense that leads to something familiar such as a color or a place. Sometimes nostalgia is shared among entire generations. Artists from the Center for Contemporary Arts present a group exhibition of art across all media to evoke or present a reflection or a window into the past and the familiar. The exhibit title is taken from the poem “The Pond,” by Mary Oliver.
