From Plush Gallery:
“Plush Gallery announces our first ever art fair, a DIY (do-it-yourself) event for independent, unrepresented artists. Over twenty-five artists from across Texas will participate in this weekend long event, each with their own displays within the gallery space.
Special activities will take place throughout the event, including an artists’ roundtable on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm, a reception with DJ Altoon C on Saturday evening from 5-8 pm, and a panel discussion on emerging art on Sunday at 3:00 pm. In addition, one participating artist will receive a one year mentoring award with the gallery, to be announced Sunday at 4:00 pm.
Gallery owner / director Randall Garrett is a veteran of the art fair circuit, having worked numerous art fairs from Chicago to New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas over the last twenty years. Along with Cynthia Mulcahy, he co-organized the first ever art fair in Dallas, at the Southside on Lamar in 2005. This new DIY event is an effort to support emerging artists, who typically have the talent and work ethic, but few opportunities to showcase their art.
Of this event, Garrett says, “We are excited to further the mission of Plush Gallery to support emerging artists, to bring the best of their work to a receptive audience, and to encourage artist empowerment and career building strategies.”
