March 31 - April 30, 2023
From Cerulean Gallery:
“Cerulean Gallery is pleased to announce its 17th Anniversary Exhibition by introducing world renowned Kinetic Art Group, BREAKFAST, to the state of Texas. Additional artists featured in this exhibition will be Captain Casual, Costa Christ, and Larisa Safaryan. The evening reception is open to the public and will be held on Friday, March 31, 5 – 8 PM. Complimentary valet.
BREAKFAST Kinetic Art Studio is a Brooklyn-based robotic kinetic artist group led by Andrew Zolty and Mattias Gunneras. The studio, started in 2009, is focused on creating forward-looking software and hardware driven artworks that connect viewers to far-away places through interactive experiences, and tell powerful stories about our rapidly- changing world.
Cerulean will be unveiling the Kinetic Art Studio’s newest flip-disc series, “World Skies – Purple Sunset”. “World Skies”, an interactive kinetic artwork and real-time weather data visualization created by BREAKFAST Studio using their Flip-Disc medium, will be on display at the gallery. This artwork allows a collector to select any city in the world to visualize cloud cover, rainfall, and wind in real-time.
When someone is close and interacts with the piece, a depth sensor sees them and replaces the visualization with a reflection of themselves. The studio’s practice employs a unique blend of computer science, mechanical engineering, and playful, emotionally- striking aesthetics to invite audiences to reflect on the relationship between the physical, the digital, the global, and the intimate—as well as the evolving relationships between human bodies and technological innovation in the Information Age.
Local Fine Art Photographer, Costa Christ, will be transforming the second level of the gallery with four dynamic Series that pave the way for infinite creativity and expression of light and colour. Christ has taken an innovative and detailed approach to the photography world in this new Series. For example, the “Metalo” series is comprised of unique sculptural Editions designed and crafted personally by the artist utilizing a single image. Expect to see 1980’s OEM Porsche 911 hoods, Ferrari 488 deck lids, and B-52 restoration airplane aluminum reimagined with Fine Art Photography.
On the main floor of the gallery, Captain Casual has drawn deep from his soul to bring forth a totally new series. “American Outlaws” will feature bold colors and glimpses of in- action cowboys on horseback. The combination of dreamy color-ways and rugged cowboys creates an experience impossible to be ignored. In addition, Armenian artist, Larisa Safaryan, will be making her debut in Texas with her vibrant artwork comprised of hand carved eggshells encased in Lucite Acrylic.”
