“Duplicity … is a provocative collaboration. … Both artists create alluring works of art with an undercurrent of wit.” – Donna Tennant, Arts and Culture Texas, 2023
Shannon Cannings’ eye-popping oil paintings of toy guns explore the toxic disposition of American consumerism, drawing attention to the dichotomy of gun violence and the seemingly harmless children’s toy.
Exuding a nostalgic and whimsical mood, William Cannings’ inflated steel sculptures of children’s pool toys embrace the pastime memories of childhood, while his site-specific Cloud installation, weightless and ethereal, was inspired by the artist’s childhood fascination with the iconic Silver Clouds by Billy Klüver and Andy Warhol.”
