From LHUCA:
“Care and Collaboration / Collaboration and Care is a group show focusing on how mothers have dealt with the complicated issue of creating art while also caring for their children. For many artists, the idea of having a child creates an immediate dilemma of how to continue as an artist and also be a caregiver. For each individual in this exhibition, the answer is different: some created art that reflects their struggles when dealing with the complexities of navigating the situation, while other artists collaborated directly with their children to create art that is a reflection of a unique time together. Still other artists use pregnancy as a source of art creation, monitoring different aspects of their development as a growing child provides a different perspective on their lives.”
