October 21 - 22, 2022
From Craighead Green Gallery:
“Twenty Texas women artists are collaborating with 20 Honduran embroidery artisans to turn 20 black and white line drawings into 20 embroidered pillow covers 20 by 20 inches in size to celebrate Honduras Threads’ 20th anniversary. Exhibition will show four interpretations – each by a different artisan — of each of the drawings. After seeing the black and white drawings, it was left to the artisans to choose colors, fabrics, appliques and embroidery stitches. Both the artists and artisans are blind as to the final outcomes. Neither has communicated with the other to provide advance instruction. Hence, artists are curious how the artisans interpret their drawings, and artisans wonder how, exactly, they ought to interpret the artists’ intentions. The conditions have grabbed the imagination of the participants
Honduran artisans view black and white line drawings for the first time.”
