From Foltz Fine Art:
“Every August Foltz Fine Art puts on a show that is dedicated to artists who have strong connections to Houston and the development of its visual arts. This year, in anticipation of Houston’s 186th birthday on August 27, 2022, Foltz Fine Art is hosting a month-long celebration of earlier Houston art with two simultaneous showings – Homage to Henri Gadbois & Houston Midcentury Modern Founders and A Cornucopia: The World of Dan Super
This year’s Houston Founders show includes works by David Adickes, Gertrude Barnstone, Frank Dolejska, Frank Freed, Otis Huband, Ruth Laird, Leila McConnell, Richard Stout, Christine Streetman, Stella Sullivan, VJ Tate, Robin Utterback, and Dick Wray. Paying homage to Henri Gadbois and his lifetime in art in Houston, over a dozen works are on view, spanning his career from the late 1940s through 1980s, of which many of these works exhibited at museums in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s.
