January 27 - February 25, 2022
From the Art Gallery at Collin College:
“Looking for Signs not only speaks of my moment and perception, it also extends to millions of stories and people, who like me, are in a constant search for signs and paths, full of uncertainty and successes, of the unknown and the known as well as emotion, anxiety, vision and non-vision…” Romulo Martinez
The Art Gallery at Collin College will host Looking for Signs, by Venezuelan born artist Romulo Martinez, curated by Julie Shipp. Paintings and mixed-media artworks. Join us for the reception planned for Thursday, January 27, 2021, 4:00-8:00pm, and an artist interview will take place on Thursday, February 3, 2021 at 12:00-12:45pm. The exhibition will be on view from January 18 through February 25 and is free and open to the public.
The solo exhibition consists of original artworks divided into three concepts: Caught by Color (statements about “emotional palettes”), Portrayed Circumstances (a personal journey) and Watching Room (Communication). Brightly-hued canvases are pieced together to form a variety of cultural personalities, while colors appear to have exploded onto the walls in reflecting the artist’s own feelings and experiences.
The Art Gallery is located at Collin College’s Plano Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Room A175, in Plano. The gallery’s hours are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit www.collin.edu/department/artsgallery for more information.
