From Invisible Genie:
“The Invisible Genie presents “Five Murals”, an exhibition of prints and drawings by Jon Revett. This show features a selection of the work prior to and as a result of his recent mural work. Revett took a one year hiatus from painting, which resulted in works made in a myriad of media, including drawing, screen printing and digital work. Ironically, he secured five mural opportunities this year. The murals, collectively dubbed “The Rural Mural Project”, are executed in small towns across the Texas Panhandle, and all are site specific geometric abstractions. The three completed murals are in the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, TX, on the Imagination Station in Stratford, TX, and on the Contemporary Art Museum Plainview in Plainview, TX. Starting this month, he will begin two more murals for the Natural Science Building on the West Texas A&M University campus, where Revett is the director of the art program. The murals are done by the WT Mural Squad, made up of his students. However, the work in the show are a collection of Revett’s work that contributed the design of the murals, and are all works on paper, with the exception of three NFTs, minted to help raise funds for future mural projects. The exhibition opens on October 1 and runs through November 24th. There will be a opening reception Friday Oct. 1 from 7 to 10 pm at Invisible Genie Gallery, 321 SW 7th Avenue, Amarillo, TX.”
