From Dock Space Gallery:
“Dock Space Gallery located in Lone Star Studios presents “Transmutation, the state of being changed into another form” by Peter French This exhibition will open on Saturday, September 11 from 6:00pm till 9:00pm. Artist statement, “When brewing operations ceased in 1996, the buildings that make up the Lone Star Brewery complex began their transmutation. Degraded by intentional acts of demolition and vandalism, fire, the elements, and time; the structures ceased to reflect their intended purpose and instead became host to something new. Formerly nondescript industrial spaces have been transformed; perforated walls, floors, and roofs introduce light, and water, while the presence of debris, and the absence of equipment and order, obscure the designed purpose of any given room. Virtually every surface has been embellished by graffiti; every space littered with the trash of transients and trespassers. The titles derive from terms associated with brewing, construction, and street art, and are themselves transmutations. More changes are coming. The transmutation of Lone Star continues.” Peter’s photographs have appeared in print and web publications and his work has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions. In September 2012, the Southwest School of Art hosted his solo show “Connecting Moments” as part of Fotoseptiembre. Peter has twice been featured as a Blue Star “emerging artist.” Masks are recommended for viewing in the gallery.”
