From The Carver Cultural Community Center:
“Benitez’s new work shares a treasure hoard of private vistas— rolling hill, sudden cloud burst, evening light, the mystery of sunset seen through a forest fence of denuded tree…Into theses paintings she pours wind and movement, dancing light, travelling cloud and open spaces. These manifested reflections allow for a glimpse into her private world, one that has been assisted, combined and montaged from collected memories.
Random thoughts on my paintings…
They are a solace gleaned from nature, a retreat from time, from burden. They are places to escape to or places to protect. These paintings are not about any particular landscape. They are the painted amalgam of many memories …of sunsets and rolling hills and rivers. Painted to share or find peace, to grow hope, to restore, to enter into, to give distance from sadness, from the worry of our troubled world. Here I retreat. Here I hide, Here I remember the lark ascending and see the San Marcos River washing away the troubles of our troubled world.”
