From the organizers:
“Wright’s works range from tabletop to large size sculptures using traditional techniques of gilding on wood, welded steel with patinas of wax and paint. Surfaces and elements are worked, shaped, forged, exhibiting the artist’s hand and inviting exploration by the viewer. Also, on view are large and small-scale drawings in graphite on paper.
Anthony Wright’s contemplation of landscape focuses on the points where manmade environment intersects with landscape, both natural and architecturally derived.
Wright’s decades long interest in landscape coalesced with his move to Texas. Here he was struck by the long unbroken lines where sky and land meet. This juncture placed him in a position of expansive perspective and limitless prospects for study.
This exciting work by a mid-career artist illustrates a continued journey that is both fresh and curious, implementing techniques both familiar and new to the artist’s oeuvre.”
