“12.26 pleased to present new work by Brooklyn-based artist J.A. Feng. Feng’s paintings are often imbued with emotional narratives of transformation, vulnerability, and humor. In her newest series of paintings, the artist creates psychologically charged spaces occupied by bulbous and feminine forms. Vibrant, quivering, and atmospheric in appearance, these permeable forms and ambiguous spaces seem to vacillate between instability and transcendence. Color shifts hint at the invisible energy, forces, and emotional spaces that occur as patterns in everyday life. With nods to art history, cartoons, and high school science class, Feng probes at humanity’s place within the universe.
J.A. Feng (b. 1982, Champaign, IL) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her MFA from Boston University in 2015 and completed a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2016. She had her first solo exhibition with the gallery this past February.”
