December 3 - March 7, 2021
A solo exhibition featuring a collection of Wedding Dresses by Steven Porterfield.
From the Museum:
“Few garments are chosen with as much care as one’s wedding clothes. They are a symbol of love and commitment and of the new beginning of a new phase in a person’s life. Their wedding clothes also reflect the societies and cultures that created and preserved them. This exhibition draws on the extensive collection of clothing expert and historian Steven Porterfield and will showcase the ever changing fashion trends of the past two centuries. This beautiful exhibition will explore the compelling history of the white wedding and its iconic stature in Western cultures.”
