From the gallery:
“West Chelsea Contemporary is opening to the public on Saturday, November 7, with Concrete to Canvas, the first show in their completely remodelled 8,000 sq. ft. space. Featuring the biggest names in street art from Banksy and Basquiat to KAWS and Keith Haring, this show is a celebration of graffiti, street art, and the artists born of these movements. A city known for its murals and creative scene, Austin is an ideal setting to showcase this significant collection—one that’s relevant and representative of today’s cultural undercurrents and social landscape.
Formerly Russell Collection Fine Art, West Chelsea Contemporary is eager to continue to provide Austinites and visitors alike with museum quality art — now through a completely contemporary lens — and for Concrete to Canvas to serve as a rare opportunity to view and collect internationally recognized artists. Concrete to Canvas runs from November 7 to December 31 at West Chelsea Contemporary (located in the heart of downtown Austin at 1009 W 6th St) and is open to all at no charge. Art collectors can snag some of the most compelling works in contemporary art — pricing for “Concrete to Canvas” is available upon request — while art lovers can peruse the new gift shop for one-of-a-kind books, prints, and works from local artists.”
