“Presented by Charles Adams Studio Project, CASPFEST is a celebration of art, music, poetry, and film, which aims to showcase exceptional contemporary arts. CASPFFEST will take place on October 17, 2020, with events starting at 1:00PM and concluding at 9:00PM, primarily at the 5&J Gallery and Courtyard. This is the second event of its kind, and for 2020 will also be virtually accessible to all through a live- stream. The national art exhibition is juried by Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr. (Detriot, MI), a world- reowned letterpress printer. Live music will feature local Lubbock talent, including Wade Parks, Alicia Morgan, Joy Harris, and Spivey. Poetry and prose will be read by Danielle Demetria East (Lubbock, TX) and Timilehin Alake (University City, MO). A documentary film about the life and work of Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., PROCEED & BE BOLD!, will be screened in-person and available to view online.
CASPFEST: National Juried Exhibition, features thirty-six artists from across the country, selected by the juror Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr. Three of the artists will receive prizes for their artwork. The exhibition opens at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 17, 2020. It will be on view until November 20, 2020, on Saturdays 1:00PM-6:00PM or by appointment. At 4:30PM, the documentary film, PROCEED & BE BOLD!, will be screened at LHUCA’s Firehouse Theatre, and also available to view at no cost online. This film focuses on the life and work of CASPFEST’s Juror, Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., and is presented by TTU Public Media. From 6:00PM to 9:00PM, there will be music, poetry/prose readings, juror talk, and art awards presented. All content will be live-streamed by Daniel Clayton, of 480 Productions. Live music will feature local Lubbock talent, including Wade Parks, Alicia Morgan, Joy Harris, and Spivey. Poetry and prose will be read by Danielle Demetria East (Lubbock, TX) and Timilehin Alake (University City, MO). Donations will be encouraged on-site and through the live-stream: 60% going to the musicians; 10% going to the readers; 20% to CASP; and, 10% to Texans for the Arts. There will also be a cash bar and food trucks there, starting at 5:30PM until 8:30PM. CASP is dedicated to following the Texas governor’s orders regarding COVID-19, will also require everyone on-site to wear a mask, and strives to create a safe and fun experience for all.
