October 3 - 11, 2020
A solo exhibition featuring site-specific installation work by Carl Smith.
From the gallery:
“The Path of Light is a site-specific painting and mix-media installation by Austin painter Carl Smith. With the use of string, Smith draws a line in space from one painting to another. The result is a study in connectivity, drawing and composition. Smith also attaches newsprint, folded paper and other three-dimensional materials to the individual paintings as a way to “explore what expressivity locked in form could look like.”
Prizer is offering visitors two ways to view the exhibition.
By Appointment: We welcome you to schedule a time to see A Path of Light by clicking on the link included at the end of the show description on our website (www.prizerartsandletters.org).
Nighttime Window Viewing: Our front room will be lit up from 8pm to 12pm each night to allow you to view Carl Smith’s installation from outside the gallery.
About the artist: Carl Smith is an abstract landscape painter who lives and works in East Austin. His landscapes explore composition and texture through the use of heavy impastos and aggressive brushwork, spontaneously creating personal paintings with a strong emphasis on form and emotion.”
