From the Blanton Museum:
“Evoking cool waters and their curious inhabitants, Teresita Fernández’ “Stacked Waters” and Thomas Glassford’s “Siphonophora” are the first works of art to greet those entering the Blanton’s soaring Rapoport Atrium. Much beloved by visitors, the two works resonate conceptually even though conceived separately by different artists. Curators Carter E. Foster and Veronica Roberts will discuss the works’ meaning in the context of each artist’s career, how they came to the Blanton, and how immersive installations have gained particular prominence in recent decades. Educator Siobhán McCusker will relate how the works are used to explore a variety of topics during gallery teaching.”
