March 13 - August 15, 2020
Opening Reception Tuesday, March 24, 5-7 pm
The Wichita Falls Art Association celebrates 70 years in a city with a rich visual arts tradition. This exhibition features works in all genres by heritage member artists, who exhibited their art from the founding of the association in 1948 through the twentieth century.
These artists, including founders Emil Hermann, Polly Hoffman, Jon Bodkin, Ilma Lucille Craft, Billie Culwell Avis, and Walter Ehlert, sought to delight their viewers, inspire one another, and encourage future generations of artists and viewers.
Together, artists in the association sponsored 40 years of downtown sidewalk shows and encouraged the formation of enduring institutions, such as The Woman’s Forum, the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU Texas, the MSU Fain College of Fine Arts, and the Arts Council and Kemp Center. Through the works in this exhibition, they continue to beckon the viewer to LET ME SHOW YOU THIS!
