March 14 - June 7, 2020
Project Row Houses (PRH) will unveil its latest Artist Round, Round 51: Local Impact II, on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Curated by PRH Curator and Programs Director Ryan N. Dennis, Round 51 is a continuation of PRH’s Round 45: Local Impact (2016), which highlighted the distinctive interests and social justice issues from the perspectives of seven artists deeply ingrained in Houston’s arts community.
Participating artists include Colby Deal, Junior Fernandez, Alexis Pye, Mich Stevenson, Lanecia A. Tinsley, and Jasmine Zelaya.
At 3 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to hear from the artists about their individual practices and inspiration behind their installation during the Porch Talks. To support neighborhood and economic development, PRH will host a family-friendly market showcasing a variety of goods and services from Third Ward vendors.
In conjunction with the opening market, there will also be a moment of collaboration with Deniz Lopez, co-founder of All Real Radio; Drew Evans, general manager of All Real Radio; and artist, Catherine Davila, where attendees are welcome to help embed crystals in the memorial for Anthony Mills aka ZIN. Often called Mr. Third Ward, ZIN was devoted to wellness, knowledge, and the upliftment of Afrikan and all people. The memorial will stand in ZIN’s honor on the corner of Bastrop and Stuart Streets upon its unveiling on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
Round 51: Local Impact II will be on view through Sunday, June 7, 2020.
