February 2 - May 2, 2020
Theresa Bond and Carol Hayman are both active in the Austin print community, pursuing artistic expression through printmaking in various media.
Hedgehog and Cactus
Theresa Bond is inspired by the complex process of printmaking–from the selection of plate surface to the choice of inks. Concerns about our environment, our impact on the landscape, and the future of our planet influence her subjects. There is beauty in small moments; Bond’s goal is to capture the essence of those moments.
Looking at the UFO
The photo intaglio prints of Carol Hayman are based on photographs of real places from her international travels. She prints on polymer plates at Slugfest Print Studio using a variety of papers including French Arches BFK Reves, Mexican bark paper, and Japanese washi paper with Charbonnel inks. She tries to emphasize the mysterious that occurs in the ordinary, attempting to create an image that draws the viewer in closer for a deeper look and to express the notions of tranquility, harmony, and feminine strength.
