November 22 - December 31, 2019
“With Artist LaMonte French everything is not as it seems. On November 22nd the native Houstonian unveils his neo-expressionism exhibit, Samson’s Song at Winston Contemporary Art. The month-long exhibit includes an artist talk and private dinner. Samson’s Song, is a nod to the legendary Israelite warrior, Samson.
French says Samson was a walking contradiction and nothing with him was as it seemed. French uses that same vibe in his textured, colorful works. ” Samson was handsome, charismatic yet he was a contradiction because he was flesh. These works give beauty as well as allure to tangible hands, non-the-less the core of Samson is human and tainted,” says French.
French describes Samson’s Song as Simplistic/Complexity. This complexity of work turns our view of art upside down. “My art depicts the soul of many moons. History, past and present, seasoned with a little aggression, held together with a roux of compassion. I call it a “Simplistic Complexity”. Matching colors to words and layering canvases with raw materials and content”.
Samson’s Song runs November 22, 2019, through December 31, 2019″
