December 5 - February 8, 2020
This exhibition shows paintings and sculptures selected from several series highlighting long standing Texas legends and icons, focusing on the Modern Cowboy, Texas BBQ, Music and Dance Halls.
“Modern Folk may be the best term I’ve overheard someone say when describing my work. Neo-Regionalist is another good one. My work is still very representational but is constantly moving more toward simplicity. My influences are many – painting, music, architecture, literature, nature – all have had a profound effect on my art. Everett Spruce, Marsden Hartley, Otis Dozier, Stuart Davis, William Lester are just a few of the artists who have made an impact on my style. – And, thirty years as a designer has also played a big role in how I see the world and project it on the canvas. – I love most everything about Texas, and my shows it, by primarily focusing on the people, places and things of the Lone Star State. “
