“Drawings for Sideshow Banners presents the work of Johnny Meah aka ‘The Czar of Bizarre.’ Meah is the last of the great golden era sideshow banner painters, whose works would entice the curious to see such attractions as Spidora The Spider Woman or The Human Blockhead. Throughout his career, Meah has always created drawings, both as studies for future banners and as documents of a rich history of characters and places. Presented by Intuitive Eye and Jack Massing, the show will have a wide array of Johnny Meah’s drawings and a selection of vintage sideshow banners.”

Just met Johnny Meah recently at a cafe’ in Safety Harbor, Florida! He is a captivating man, relates incredible stories of his circus life – his eyes brighten with each anecdote! His enthusiasm is contagious, made me want to see a circus again. But…those days have melted away into a technological arena, that’s not nearly as intriguing. He’s still creating with his writing and other projects.
I felt animated all day after this brief meeting – his later years are filled with joy and fulfillment. Of course, his lovely wife beside him is responsible for much of that happiness!
