True North, a sculpture project based in the Houston Heights neighborhood, has announced its 2025 featured artists.
The annual outdoor sculpture installation project was launched in 2014. It is supported through a collaboration with the Houston Heights Association and in partnership with the City of Houston Parks and Recreation, Public Works Departments, the Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Houston Arts Alliance. Over the last 12 years, the initiative has presented 96 sculptures by emerging and established Texas artists.
This year’s artists were announced on True North’s social media, though the website does not have updated information about the 2025 season. Selected artists include Elizabeth Akamatsu in Nacogdoches; Olaniyi R. Akindiya (AKIRASH) in Pflugerville; Amanda Barry Jones, Tim Glover, Felicia Schneider, and Ben Woitena in Houston; Susan Budge in Pattison; and Dave Clark in Tomball.
According to an announcement on Mr. Akindiya’s website, the new works will be installed from February 28 through March 9. A reception will be held on Thursday, April 24, and the temporary installations will be on view through December.
