by Jessica Fuentes January 6, 2025

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center has opened a call for its 43rd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio poster contest.

In a press release, Cristina Ballí, Executive Director of the Guadalupe, commented, “Back by tradition and popular demand, the Tejano Conjunto Festival Poster Contest kicks off this year anticipating great participation from Conjunto music and art fans throughout Texas and beyond. We’ve had many schools contact us already inquiring about this year’s contest. Students and the public at large look forward to seeing the winning poster each year, and Festival patrons [look forward] to buying and collecting the T-shirts.”

Each year the organization hosts a poster contest open to middle school, high school, and college students, as well as professionals. Winners will be announced in each category and the overall winner will receive a $2,000 award and their work will be featured on marketing materials for the 2025 event. Last year’s winner was Anna Arce, whose Lotería-style design depicted a young woman playing the accordion.
