Cluley Projects, the community-based programming arm of Erin Cluley Gallery in Dallas, has opened applications for its inaugural Arts Writing Mentorship Initiative.

Earlier this year, Erin Cluley Gallery announced the closure of its project space, Cluley Projects, and the reconceptualization of the name as an umbrella term for various public projections and interventions. This mentorship initiative is the first public announcement of a new program launched by the gallery.

The program is open to writers aged 18 or older, who are based in Texas and have no more than two published pieces in print or online journals. The selected writer will receive a $500 honorarium and one-on-one mentorship from Blake Bathman, Erin Cluley Gallery’s press writer and a published author. In 2023, Bathman was the winner of Glasstire’s North Texas Art Writing Prize. Read their essay about Jes Fan’s Networks for Rupture and Dispersal here.

Additionally, the selected writer will be paired with artist Leili Arai Tavallaei, the Dallas-based winner of Cluley Projects’ recent open call. Ms. Tavallaei will present a solo exhibition in May/June 2025 and the writer will collaborate with the artist to produce a text to accompany the exhibition.

The application deadline is Sunday, February 2, at 11:59 p.m. CST. Applications will be reviewed by Erin Cluley Gallery staff and finalists will be notified by February 16. Questions about the application can be directed to [email protected]. Learn more and apply via this form
