Midtown Houston Cultural Arts & Entertainment District, in partnership with the nonprofit FreshArts, has opened applications for its micro grant program, which supports individual artists and arts organizations.
The 2024 midtownHOU Arts Micro Grant theme is Cultural Kaleidoscope. The granting organizations seek projects that celebrate the cultural diversity of Midtown Houston and foster a sense of community connection. Proposed projects should have a lasting impact and include a variety of artistic mediums, such as music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing.
A total of $30,000 will be awarded through two grants for arts organizations and eight grants for individual artists. Past grantees include organizations such as Lawndale, DiverseWorks, and Houston Cinema Arts Society, as well as artists Patricia Ramirez, Shelbi Nicole Gregory, and Caroline Truong.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit questions to [email protected] by January 2, 2025. The application deadline is Sunday, January 12 and selected projects will be announced by Wednesday, February 5.
