Big Medium, in partnership with the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston and DiverseWorks, has announced the artists participating in its 2024 Texas Biennial.
More than 80 artists from across the state will be included in this year’s biennial and presented at 13 venues across the Houston area. Artists were selected and the show is being co-curated by Erika Mei Chua Holum, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Associate Curator at the Blaffer; Ashley DeHoyos Sauder, Curator at DiverseWorks; and Coka Treviño, Curator and Artistic Director at Big Medium.

The Last Sky, the biennial exhibition presented at the Blaffer will be on view from September 27, 2024, through March 9, 2025. Featured artists include Olaniyi Akindiya, Stacey Allen, Mashal Awais, Anahita Bradberry, Angela Chen, Essentials Creative, Farima Fooladi, Ian Gerson, Jessica Gonzalez, Guadalupe Hernandez, Antonio Lechuga Jr., Gabriel Martinez, R Eric McMaster, Open MFA, Gilberto Rocha, S Rodriguez, Lisa Saldivar, and Isabelle Vik.

Other biennial exhibitions include River on Fire at DiverseWorks, From Federal to Hopetown at the Anderson Center for the Arts, a two person exhibition featuring works by Jaime Robertson and Alejandra Regalado at the Lanecia Rouse Tinsley Gallery, and exhibitions hosted at Lawndale, Throughline, the Galveston Artist Residency, the Galveston Arts Center, and K Space Contemporary. Additionally, Sawyer Yards will host multiple installations and the Houston Museum of African American Culture and the Houston Climate Justice Museum will present performances by biennial artists.
