The Amon Carter Museum Seeks North Texas Artists for Community Outreach Program

by Jessica Fuentes August 3, 2024

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) in Fort Worth has opened a call for North Texas artists to apply to participate in its Carter Community Artist (CCA) program.

Launched in 2018, the CCA initiative invites local artists to assist the museum with creating, planning, and leading experiences on site and in the community.  Each year the Carter selects four artists from a pool of applicants to engage in the yearlong collaboration. The 2024 CCAs include Colleen Borsh, Stuart Hausmann, Anna Joy Pham, and Kelsha Reese.

In a press release, Mr. Hausmann spoke about his experience as a CCA. He stated, “Working as a Carter Community Artist has been an incredible experience, allowing me to collaborate with dedicated and knowledgeable staff who have enriched my artistic journey. This role has offered a unique opportunity to reflect on my own practice, gain inspiration, and contribute to a vibrant artistic community. I highly recommend applying to anyone seeking growth and connection in their art career!”

Selected artists can expect to work between 20 and 40 hours over the course of the year and be compensated at a rate of $100/hour. Artists commit to working on projects throughout 2025, and the number of hours per project will vary.

The application deadline is Monday, September 9, 2024, and selected artists will be announced later this fall. Questions can be directed to [email protected]. Learn more and apply via the Carter’s website.
