Each year, a guest juror selects artworks from the submissions and names prize winners, who receive cash awards. This year’s juror is Margaret (Maggie) Adler, former Curator of Paintings, Sculpture and Works on Paper at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, who is currently working as an independent curator. During her 11 years at the Carter, Ms. Adler worked closely with contemporary artists to bring site-specific installations to the museum and to spark new conversations around historical pieces.

This year, Artspace111 will offer $15,000 in cash prizes, including a $10,000 first prize award as well as smaller awards to be determined by Ms. Adler. The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to exhibit their work at the gallery in either a solo or group exhibition in 2025. Prize winners will be announced during the opening reception on Saturday, July 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Ms. Adler told Glasstire, “It was an honor to sort through the overwhelmingly positive response to the call for Texas artists. You would think as a curator in Texas that I would have encountered most of the artists before, but I was delighted to get to know so many new (to me) artists through seeing their work digitally, at first, and now, soon, I will have the great pleasure of seeing everything in person in what I hope will be an illuminating juxtaposition of so many mediums and meanings!”
