Big Medium, an arts nonprofit in Austin, has announced an open call for the annual Austin Studio Tour, which takes place this November.
The Austin Studio Tour is an annual event that combines two separate events originally founded by Big Medium, the East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) and the West Austin Studio Tour. While initially the EAST took place in November and the West Austin tour took place in May, in recent years the combined event has taken place across multiple weekends in November. According to a press release, this year, in response to feedback from participants, Big Medium has reduced the event to two weekends. Studios and venues West of I-35 will be highlighted on November 9 and 10, and the following weekend will feature spaces East of I-35.
The call is open to artists, dedicated art spaces, and temporary art experiences at locations within the 10 City Council districts of Austin, plus a 10-mile radius from the Capitol. Participants must open their location to the public from Noon to 6 p.m. on the dates that correspond with their location.
