The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has recently announced that they are searching for four new assistant professors. Of course, all of the positions require a MFA—and a move to Brownsville—but on the bright side, they aren’t adjunct positions! The school is looking for professors in:

Interactive Media and Graphic Design
Graphic Design
Ceramics
Photography/Digital Image – this is a full-time, tenure track position

To make things even better, in October, UTRGV received a National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE grant that aims to “increase the representation and advancement of women in STEM fields across faculty and leadership ranks, with a special focus on Latinas.”

We’re not sure if this grant will cover the arts (since STEM is only science, technology, engineering and math). However, we can hope that the the foundation will take a cue from the recent congressional bill integrating the arts into STEM (making it STEAM!) and send some of this funding towards the School of Art and their new hires.
