Everyone’s favorite Houston art  provocateur appeared in the NY Times, interviewed by Randy Kennedy: artist Mark Flood stuck up for Houston, the willful rich, and the American way, but declined the title of “sacred monster.” Meanwhile, back at the bayou, Menil Curator Toby Kamps and PR guy Vance Muse gave Beyoncé Knowles a special private tour of the Menil’s secret treasure rooms. Culturemap‘s Shelby Hodge reports that the singer and and her entourage “focused closely on Magritte’s surrealist paintings, Max Ernst bronzes and zeroed in on work by lesser-known surrealist Victor Brauner.”
