Golf art to the rescue! Insperity Golf Experience coming to Discovery Green.

by Bill Davenport August 13, 2011

The Insperity helium balloon, a popular attraction at Houston’s Discovery Green Park in 2009, sprung a leak in Chicago. So park program director Susanne Theis asked curator Clint Willour to round up 10 artists to build playable mini-golf holes on the park’s Sarofim Picnic Lawn instead. Thus was born The Insperity Golf Experience, opening September 1, part exhibition, part serious mini-golf. Holes by The Art Guys, Noah Edmundson, Bill Davenport (that’s me!), Emily Sloan, Aerosol Warfare, Jason Makepeace and Seth Mittag, Anthony Thompson Shumate, Elaine Bradford, and Dennis Nance, and Jonathan Leach will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, from Sept. 1 to Nov. 27. Admission is $5 and group packages are available.
