Manuel Espinosa (1912-2006) was a founding member of the Asociación de Arte Concreto-Invención (AACI). Founded in 1945, the group made work which broke from figurative traditions, focusing instead upon geometric elements and color. Between 1963 and 1967, Espinosa’s work appeared in all the major exhibitions of non-figurative painting organized by art critic Jorge Romero Brest.
