Brillembourg won a prize at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale for their exploration of the Torre David, a 45-story building in Caracas, Venezuela, which has remained unfinished since the Venezuelan economy collapsed in 1994. Today, it is a make-shift home to more than 750 families, known as a “vertical slum.” Brillembourg will speak about the workshop-like practice as a form of research and teaching. A pre-lecture reception starting at 6p.m. in the Caroline Weiss Law Building lobby. $35 public/ $20 Rice Design Alliance members.
