Andy Freeberg: Guardians

During his travels in Russia, California photographer Andy Freeberg was fascinated by the babushkas
(grandmothers in Russian) in Russian museums that keep watch over the works of art. The Guardians are typically older women who wear their own everyday clothing, which magically begins to resemble the textures, the colors and the subject matter of the artwork they love and protect.
