Works by “the dean of Texas painters” gathered from a collaboration of Texas history orgs: The Torch Collection, the Harry Ransom Center, the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, Texas Tech University, the Dallas Public Library, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas Historical Society. A noted turn-of-the-(19th)century Texas art pioneer, Reaugh died in Dallas in 1945. According to J.P. Bryan, C.E.O. of Torch Energy Advisors, “Reaugh’s pastels bring a mystic serenity to his subjects. It is more impressionable than impressionistic. The scenes are shrouded by a subduing influence, a slight colorful mist of pastel but nevertheless containing surprise and energy.”
