June 7 - August 28, 2011
Abstract, brightly colored paintings by George Mendoza, declared legally blind as a young boy. In spite of his visual handicap he went on to become a world-class runner, author, and a motivational speaker and an artist. His life was the subject of the 1989 PBS documentary The George Mendoza Story. The paintings are based on flashes of light, and constant pinwheels of colors and patterns swimming in his eyes.
