February 5 - May 22, 2011
Anne Allen takes everyday objects that have their origins in decorative craft or utilitarian use as her subjects for her exhibition Cell Series at The Old Jail Art Center. Lace, doilies, floral and wall patterns, hairnets and dryer sheets are some of the image sources Allen distorts, manipulates and then enlarges. By utilizing materials such as charcoal, graphite, ink, prism-color and gouache, Allen transforms the ordinary to unique. Participating in the 2011 Texas Biennial.
