April 23 - May 23, 2011
TCU Visiting Professor Raychael Stine opens and exhibit of works at Eugnene Binder in Marfa. Stine makes small, beautiful paintings of her dogs that are cute, seductive and kitschy. But wait! Lest you think these paintings are to be enjoyed in some traditional fashion, take note of their presence within the larger body of her installation which includes small abstract paintings, photographs, blankets and plastic bags. These additional objects are meant to make you “re-evaluate, re-image, and re-imagine” the paintings. Apparently the paintings disappear and become “a continually shifting hierarchy of symbolic visual cues…” Of course they do!
