September 25 - January 23, 2011
The Old Jail Art Center starts the Fall season with an exhibition of two artists in the new exhibition Natural Translation. Harry Geffert’s delicate cast bronze works of small branches, twigs, and seed pods are joined to create larger, more complex forms. These are displayed as wall pieces and the surface relief creates the illusion of a vast landscape. James Sullivan works in a variety of media and creates sculptures and drawings that derive from, or refer to, human forms and natural objects. Sullivan’s small, table-top "stones" are created through a high-tech rabid prototyping machine or the age old process of manipulating sheets of thin metal by hand.
