Ok, so as of Saturday night, Lane Hagood is the official winner of the 2010 Hunting Art Prize. So with an extra 50 Gs in his pocket, Hagood exhibits a recent series of drawings reflecting his fascination with the lives of writers and the escape of books. This image titled Diseased Writer doesn’t look a whole lot like like the piece that won the Hunting, but come check out his work in Old Book Smell at Gallery 1724. Also at Gallery 1724, Brooklyn artist Sarah G. Sharp’s exhibition, Family Crests for the Disenfranchised, transforms materials like contact paper, linoleum, aluminum tape and salt into funny and fantastical images and objects.
