The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents the first major museum exhibition of works by Alice Neel in ten years. Neel’s famous portraits of her neighbors, lovers, friends and family in New York City from the 1920’s to the 1980s are featured and a portion of Alice Neel: Painted Truths is dedicated to her cityscapes which document tenement life from the inside. The exhibition is organized by the MFAH, co-curated by Barry Walker and Jeremy Lewison and will also travel to Whitechapel Gallery in London and Moderna Museet in Malmö.
