SMU and CentralTrak, the University of Texas at Dallas’ Artists Residency, bring the symposium Art Work: A Local Conversation About Art, Labor, and Economics to Dallas. In conjunction with the current exhibition Non-Profit Margin at CentralTrak, this symposium is going to be good. Speakers include Dr. Michael Corris, Chair of the Division of Art at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts; New York-based artist Maureen Connor; Marc Herbst, co-editor of the Los Angeles-based Journal of Aesthetics and Protest; Brent Brown of bcWORKSHOP; and artist Bryce Dwyer of the Chicago collective inCUBATE. A panel discussion with the speakers, moderated by Noah Simblist, will follow.
